STAAR Testing
Published: Sun, Mar 26, 2017, 01:16PM CDT

Cottonwood Creek Family,

We will be administering the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) to our students on Tuesday, March 28th, and Wednesday, March 29th, 2017. Fourth graders will take the Writing STAAR test on Tuesday. Fifth graders will take the Math STAAR test on Tuesday and the Reading STAAR test on Wednesday. During these days, all other grade levels will continue with a regular school day.

It is important that we have an environment that is free of interruptions to ensure that our students have the opportunity to do their best on these important days. In order to ensure a secure and quiet testing environment, no visitors will be allowed on campus. This will also include all lunch times. You may contact the office on these days if you are in need of assistance, and our office personnel will be happy to help you.

Additionally, cell phones and other electronic devices are prohibited in a state testing environment for testing grade levels. Please help us enforce this policy and encourage your student to leave his/her cell phone and other devices at home on testing days. If they need to bring devices to school, please know that we will collect the phone and give it back to your child at the end of the day.

Please make certain that your fourth and fifth graders get a good night’s rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive to school on time ready to do his/her best on the test.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping our campus and our students to be successful on our testing days!

Sincerely,

Chris Gollner

Reminder from the Clinic
Published: Sun, Mar 19, 2017, 01:42PM CDT

Parents:

Whenever a student returns from a long break from school, it is a good opportunity to make periodic head checks in the home a part of your school aged child’s healthy routine.

Ideally, students should be screened for head lice at home prior to returning to school following a school vacation, such as summer, winter or spring break. This is the most common time (during vacation from school) that children develop an infestation.

If you wish more information, see the CISD webpage, select “Departments”, choose Health Services, and then Head Lice. On the right side of the page is “Resources” which will give you more information on lice. You can also click here.

Hope your break was restful, and looking forward to seeing everyone healthy and rested on Monday, March 20th, the first day of Spring!

Message from The Clinic
Published: Sun, Mar 5, 2017, 09:25AM CST

Dear Cottonwood Creek Parents,

The following is particularly important at this time of year:

If your child has flu symptoms please KEEP THEM HOME. Keeping sick students at home is the best way to keep flu from spreading to other students and staff.

  • Monitor the health of your child and all family members closely.
  • Check for flu symptoms every morning.
  • Symptoms of flu usually include fever with cough or sore throat, sometimes runny nose, body aches, headache, vomiting or diarrhea.
  • Children with symptoms of flu should not return to school until they no longer have fever for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications.

For the health of your child and other children, always refer to our school
health policy when trying to determine if your child should attend school.

Thank you for your help in keeping our students and teachers healthy!
