Jump Rope for Heart
Published: Sun, Feb 19, 2017, 10:57AM CST

Dear CCE Families and Learners,

This week during PE we kicked off our annual service learning project for the American Heart Association called Jump Rope for Heart. Last year CCE Learners and Families contributed $9,500+ toward the fight against heart disease and stroke.

This year we set our goal at $10,000 and hope that our learners will share their story of health and wellness with their families and friends. During PE class we will be jumping rope to keep our heart strong and learning about living healthy! The secure link for more information about Jump Rope for Heart and how you can share your story is www.americanheart.org/jump . Below are links for more information. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email me. Thanks so much for your support of the American Heart Association!

Message from The Clinic
Published: Sun, Feb 19, 2017, 10:57AM CST

Dear Cottonwood Creek Parents,

The following is particularly important at this time of year:

If your child has flu symptoms please KEEP THEM HOME. Keeping sick students at home is the best way to keep flu from spreading to other students and staff.

  • Monitor the health of your child and all family members closely.
  • Check for flu symptoms every morning.
  • Symptoms of flu usually include fever with cough or sore throat, sometimes runny nose, body aches, headache, vomiting or diarrhea.
  • Children with symptoms of flu should not return to school until they no longer have fever for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications.

For the health of your child and other children, always refer to our school
health policy when trying to determine if your child should attend school.

Thank you for your help in keeping our students and teachers healthy!

Walk to School Wednesday!
Published: Sun, Feb 12, 2017, 12:05PM CST

We would like to encourage all of our students and parents to get out and walk to school Wednesday, February 15th to show support of our Healthy Zone School!

Staff members will be meeting student walkers at the following locations:

  • Corner of Sandy Lake and Winding Hollow
  • Corner of Sandy Lake and Old Coppell Road
  • Corner of Parkway and Graham

You are welcome to drop students off to join the teachers at these locations as we walk to school at 7:30 a.m.

Leaving cars at home saves gas, saves money, improves our air quality, and provides exercise!

2017 Teacher Sweet Treats
Published: Sun, Feb 12, 2017, 12:04PM CST

Each year we create a sign up for parents or students to create 60 small treats to put in the staff mailboxes to give them a mid-week surprise. Feel free to sign up to bring in 60 small treats on a Wednesday of your choice. You are also welcome to join in with another family to create something. Another great idea could be to gather a group of friends after school and have them draw pictures, bake a treat, or create inspirational cards for the staff.

In the past some of the treats have been baked goods, a tube of chapstick, a pack of gum, a sharpie pen, a bag of popcorn, bag of cocoa with marshmallows, and a number of other small gifts.

Please click here for the sign up link.

The staff has mentioned numerous times how much they appreciate the gesture. Thank you so much for your continued support.

Valogram 1
Valograms On Sale This Week!
Published: Wed, Feb 8, 2017, 07:28PM CST

CCE 5th graders will once again be selling Valograms. A Valogram is a paper Valentine with a small piece of candy attached. The kids love to send them to each other, siblings, teachers and office staff!

  • Valograms are 25 cents each and will be sold in the cafeteria before school February 6th-10th from 7:30-7:50 a.m.
  • After Valograms are purchased you may fill them out at home and then “mail” them in the Valogram mailbox in the CCE office. The 5th graders will attach candy and deliver to classes by February 14th for their class parties.
  • If you would like to pre-order a class set, you can place your order online. Click Valogram Order Form to pre-order a class set. Stop by the Valogram table any morning between February 6th-10th to pick them up.

Parents consider this: Instead of going to the store, buy a Valogram for each child in the class. For a class of 20 that would cost $5. Not only would you be saving time and effort, you would also be supporting the 5th grade.

If you have any questions, you can contact Stancy Hagans at stancyhagans@gmail.com or Julie McKee at juliemckeemail@yahoo.com.
